Our History
The ClearHorizon Initiative traces its origins back to Selous Advisory, a company specializing in hybrid threats and counterterrorism. The members of Selous Advisory are driven by a shared vision: to leverage their extensive knowledge, expertise, and capabilities to effect positive change and make a tangible impact in addressing the pressing challenges posed by regional threats.
Motivated by a deep-seated commitment to global security and stability, the team at Selous Advisory is dedicated to utilizing their skills for the greater good. They aspire to channel their understanding of security dynamics, strategic insights, and operational proficiency towards initiatives like ClearHorizon.
While Selous Advisory serves as the driving force behind this initiative, the financial resources required to sustain operations are considerable. Unfortunately, Selous Advisory is unable to provide financial support commensurate with the significant needs of this undertaking. As a result, we rely on the goodwill and support of individuals and organizations to propel this initiative forward and ensure its success. In our pursuit of sustainable operations, The ClearHorizon Initiative is gearing up to raise the funds required to launch our project through a crowdfunding campaign in Q4 2023. We remain open to support from donors and foundations, provided that it preserves our editorial independence and operational methodologies.
At ClearHorizon, our operations continue to be managed by a dedicated team from diverse nationalities and backgrounds. Our team comprises investigators, journalists, IT specialists, weapon systems and UAV experts. Additionally, our extended network of friends and contacts often contributes with their expertise in graphics, research, editing, and valuable advice, bolstering our efforts to monitor and address the complexities of threats in the Middle East.
Our Mission
Focused on safeguarding regional stability, The ClearHorizon Initiative is dedicated to monitoring and analyzing ballistic missile and weaponized UAV threats in the Middle East.
With a specific emphasis on groups such as the Houthis, along with militias in Iraq and Syria, predominantly supported by Iran, our mission is to track, assess, and report on their activities. Employing both open-source data and field investigations, our team diligently collects, validates, and catalogues crucial information concerning ballistic missile incidents.
Our focus is on providing reliable and actionable intelligence, aiming to equip regional stakeholders with the necessary information to take decisive actions. As the threat landscape evolves, so does our focus. In addition to our ongoing efforts in monitoring regional missile activities, we strive to expand our scope. This includes examining the broader implications of these threats, assessing the regional impact, and identifying evolving trends and tactics.
